Ann Curry
Ann Curry is a photojournalist as well as a journalist, author and has covered war zones for the past forty-five years. Her research focuses on human suffering as well as disasters. Curry was well-known for her reporting on natural catastrophes and war broken nations. Curry's maternal grandmother is Japanese as is her father, who was another American Naval Sailor. Her father was with the mother of her in Japan as a stationed in Japan following World War II. Family members were constantly in and out of the country due to her dad's military service. Curry finished her high schooling within Ashland Oregon. Curry graduated in 1978, with an undergraduate degree in journalism at the University of Oregon. Curry's family was often moving which is why Curry was not able to stay at a single school for more than two years. Curry attended various schools like San Diego Alameda Oregon Virginia and Virginia. In the end, she was able to graduate from Ashland High School. In the role of an intern at KTVL Channel 10 Medford, Oregan, she began her journey in the field of broadcasting. She became the first female anchor for the station at aged 22. Later, she moved into the role of anchor as well as reporter at KGW an NBC station in Portland, Oregan. In the course of four years, she was hired as an anchor by KCBS TV located in Los Angeles. It was during her time with the station for 6 years that she was awarded the two Emmy Awards.
